2020

Let me start by saying 2020 has sucked fully and completely.

Now on to the best of this blog post. 2020 has been the year of doing hard things for me. For the past few years I have suffered with some major imposter syndrome. I finished all of my coursework for my doctorate and basically quit before taking my comprehensive exam. I got scared I truly felt that the test was going to be the thing that spilled the beans and let the world know I shouldn’t be doing this work. The truth is I waited so long that I had to ask to be readmitted to finish the program. I am back in the program and taking my last 2 classes (my degree plan changed slightly), I will sit for the comps next semester and pass the first time (I’m manifesting that), I have even secured a statistics tutor to begin in December so that I’m ready for the test in March.

Honestly, once I got back in the program and realized I could do it everything else in life kinda seemed like lagniappe (extra). I have just been doing everything I can think of (my great grandmothers words) since then. I submitted proposals for 2 virtual conferences and both were accepted. I had my website rebuilt and now offer all of my products thru my very own e-commerce shop. I am working on 4 new programs for girls. I got my first paid speaking gig. I started the TeachHer Podcast and have interviewed some amazing leaders in girls education (season 2 coming soon).

The point I’m trying to make here is that it only takes one small step to empower yourself to truly live the life you imagined (my favorite quote). My goal with everything I do is to support educators and advocates that are out each day supporting our girls if there is ever anything I can do to support your work please let me know. I often wonder what one thing we can say or do each day to empower our girls to fulfill their full potential. Today I would like to highlight our new release the “Take What You Need Slips” I’ve always loved seeing these places, so I created some for you to keep in a special place for your girls to “take what they need” each day.
