Episode 24: Dr. McKenzie Stokes
Today, our guest is McKenzie Stokes. Dr. Stokes holds a PhD in applied social and community psychology as well as a graduate certificate in Family Life Education and Coaching. Dr. Stokes is currently a postdoctoral fellow with the National Science Foundation, where she conducts research on how racial processes and family relationships impact the mental health of Black teens and young adults. She is particularly interested in understanding how the intersection of multiple social identities (like gender and race) uniquely impacts the experiences of Black youth and families across the diaspora. McKenzie ultimately plans to use her research to develop culturally relevant and evidence-based programs to reduce the prevalence of mental health disorders/symptoms among Black people in the U.S. Listen Now.
