4 Ways To Support Our Girls Right Now

As we are all working to adjust to our new normal, I wanted to highlight a few ways to support our girls during this time.

#4 Make Plans

Our girls are used to a schedule and having plans for each day. Continuing to encourage planning is a great way to support our girls. Purchase or create a planner for your girl where she can write her goals for each day. A planner will encourage our girls to continue to be responsible as well as give them a sense of normalcy as we navigate this new territory. If you are looking for a template check out our My Daily Planner template. This template includes a place for girls to create a to do list, write their goals, add notes, and reflect on their day. Use this with your girls of any age.

#3 READ READ READ

A great way to get our girls minds off the stress of this situation is to read with them. Reading for pleasure is a great stress reliever. Often we stop reading to and with our girls when they reach a certain age, but we can also use this reading time as a way to bond with our girls. Choose a book that you will both enjoy and take turns reading to each other and discussing the book. If you are looking for books for your girls check out our “250 Books Every Brown Girl Should Read” book list. This list is organized by grade level and theme, so it is a great way to choose a title that best fits the needs of your girls.

#2 Affirm Our Girls

It is crucial during this time that we are building our girls up especially since many are spending more time on social media with the given climate. Affirmations are a great way to spread positivity and encouragement to our girls. If you are looking for assistance in introducing affirmations to your girls grab our “Affirming Myself” lesson plan which also includes a printable set of our “Girl Power Affirmations” card deck. If you would like to purchase a physical set of our “Girl Power Affirmations” card deck you can do so here

#1 Positive Vibes Only

Thinking positively is super important these days with the media draining us so much. Practice gratitude with your girls each day to ensure that our girls remember the good things and know that we will get back to them soon. Practicing gratitude just means taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they’re thankful for. This practice also helps us to experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems all things that are very important right now. If you are looking for an easy way to get your girls into practicing gratitude grab our Joy, Light, & Love: Gratitude Journal For Girls
